BMJ Bones, Muscles, and Joints
You may not know this, but inflammation contributes to both joint and bone deterioration. It's a risk factor for osteoporosis. The good news is that supporting your bones also supports your joints. After more than 35 years of experience treating muscle and bone pain and dysfunction, I designed the BMJ (bone, muscle, joint) formula to support bone formation, and optimal joint function.
Effective S-Acetyl Glutathione
Glutathione is your primary defense against aging.
Because inflammation is a risk factor for bone loss, it makes sense to include glutathione even if glutathione is not an anti-inflammatory, since inflammation is inducing oxidative stress (Khansari N, et al. 2009). Free radical damage can also cause inflammation.
Research has documented the many benefits of curcumin (found in turmeric spice), but regular curcumin is hard to absorb. Our formula improves the intake of this beneficial substance into the cells.
Curcumin is recommended here because inflammation is a risk factor for bone loss.
A significant increase in the risk of fractures has been documented in older men with increased TNF-alpha, an inflammatory marker (Cauley JA, et al. 2016). Elevated inflammatory markers has also been found to increase the risk of fractures in women (Cauley JA, et al. 2007).
Curcumin has been found to inhibit the inflammatory cytokine TNF-alpha (Aggarwal BB, et al. 2013).
Curcumin has also been found to reduce IL-1beta induced NF-kappaB activation (Burhmann C, et al. 2011). These are inflammatory cytokines.
